There is a reason these accounts put this text on their videos. It is no secret that these convert much higher than ordinary videos.

Many times when users are scrolling through their newsfeeds, audio on videos is silent.
As you have a minimal amount of time to grab their attention, a video isn’t going to drag them in.
That’s why adding text to your videos gives them a chance to see exactly what your video is about and why they should watch.
Limiting the text to nice and short sentences also helps. No one wants to sit there and read an essay or have a video covered in the text. Remember to keep it short and simple!

Having the option to view a competitor’s Facebook ads can be a powerful tool. This allows you to understand what is working for them and what call to actions work best.
 
If you can’t find any competitors running ads, you can always search for local businesses.

So how do you view their ads?

First, you will need to visit their Facebook page:

Scroll down and on the right-hand side there will be a ‘Page Transparency’ section.
Click on ‘See More’.
There will then be a section ‘Ads From This Page’.
Under that, if it says that page is currently running ads, click through to the Ad Library.

On this page, it will show you all the ads that they are currently running. Including what platform they are running on and what the call to actions are.
On the top right, you can see if the ads are running on Facebook, Instagram, Messenger or Audience Network.
Under the Active symbol, it will also give you the date that they started running the ad through Facebook.
Some of your competitors may be running a large number of different advertisements, or versions of the same ad. This means that they may be targeting different areas or different demographics with the same creative.
It can take a while to find a competitor in your niche that is running ads. However, it can be a very worthwhile exercise.
You will start to understand what ads are working. Especially if they have an ad that has been running for several months. This gives you a good indication that they are doing something right and what customers respond to.
You can then start to create your own ads using similar creative and copy to your competitors.
As always it is important to create different ad sets and trial different copy with different creative to see what converts best.
Our general rule of thumb with new ads is trialling the below:
 
  • Headline 1 – Immediate action and/or benefit
  • Headline 2 – Longer and deeper benefit
  • Copy 1 – Short – Who, What, Why, CTA
  • Copy 2 – Longer

Jack Dorsey who is the CEO of Twitter and Square, has said on Tuesday that he is donating $1 billion to help combat the coronavirus.
 
This equates to under a third of his net worth.
Jack who is 43, joins a list of celebrities and world leaders who are donating a share of their wealth to help fight the coronavirus.
He has also recently sent out a list of tweets with his plans moving forward.
“After we disarm this pandemic, the focus will shift to girl’s health and education, and UBI.”
” Why now? The needs are increasingly urgent, and I want to see the impact in my lifetime. I hope this inspires others to do something similar. Life is too short, so let’s do everything we can today to help people now. “
These tweets highlight that even after the pandemic, the funds will left over will be used for something else that he is highly passionate about. Helping with girls education and health as well as universal basic income. There is also a public Google doc to help track the money that’s available right now.
Up until now, Jeff Bezos held the record for the biggest donation towards battling Coronvirus with a $100 million donation.
Jack’s recent donation is significantly larger and will hopefully help to aid the cure and ongoing treatment.

Well, it’s actually pretty damn easy!

All it is made up of is three simple ingredients that you’ve probably already got in the cupboard.
Simply add two tablespoons of instant coffee, 2 tablespoons of sugar and 2 tablespoons of boiling water.

Now we get it, 2 tablespoons of sugar is a lot, so feel free to use less. We just found the sugar helped make the whipped coffee stay ‘whipped’ longer. I dunno, make up your own decision on this one. If you use that much sugar and that much coffee, expect to be bouncing off the walls by your 4 PM Zoom meeting with your manager.

Alright.. once you’ve got all the ingredients in the bowl, get a mixer and mix that bad boy up. You can do it by hand, but you’ll probably end up looking like the Rock by the time you’re done because this thing takes a serious mixin’.
You’ll notice after a while it starts to look like peanut butter? It gets extra whippy and is ready to go.

Now throw some ice in a glass, pour some milk in and chuck your whippy whip on top.

And BAM! You’ve got yourself a Dalgana!

When looking at some of the most popular Instagram feeds, you’ll notice they all have one thing in common. All their pictures look vaguely similar and their colour undertones are consistent.

That’s not a coincidence or an example of their photo editing expertise. It is because they use presets.

The times, when you could snap a picture and it was enough to apply one of the pre-installed Instagram filters before uploading it, are long gone.

The use of presets has changed the Instagram game and allowed people to obtain a particular look for their feed.

Presents are custom filters that are applied usually using Abobe Lightroom. Each preset has a list of settings that are customised in a way to create a similar “look” for all the pictures.

This means that with presets, you no longer need to manually edit each photo and all your desired settings are applied within a click of a button.

For long, this was an area occupied by photographers and professional photo editors. But since Lightroom launched their long-awaited mobile app, this caused a massive boom of the popularity of presets and made them much more accessible to the public.

How Does It Work?

Now, transforming your pictures with purchased presets is easy. Once you have the app downloaded to your phone and install the purchased presets, simply import the image from your gallery and then apply the preset with a click of a button. 

Additionally, you can do little tweaks depending on the photo and change the basic settings like contrast or brightness. From there, you export the picture into your gallery and it is ready to use. 

Nowadays, not only can you buy presets from your favourite photographer, but many influencers and bloggers have also developed their own packs.

Are They Worth It?

Presets are one of the most useful tools that can transform the look of your feed. They make your page stand out and develop a specific style that others will associate with your brand. 

Look at presets as a form of investment. As much as paying for a set of filters might seem like an unnecessary expense, you only need to purchase them once and you can use them on your profile forever. 

While buying a set of presets for $50 may seem expensive, from a business perspective, it is a small investment given the benefits.

The question is not whether to buy a preset but which one to buy. With their rising popularity, there are now thousands of them available on the market.

And while there are some good ones, there are also many bad presets out there. If you have a favourite Instagrammer who also sells presets, be careful. 

The fact that you like the edited pictures doesn’t mean that you’ll like the presets too. Some presets don’t cover all the changes that the photographer makes and they require a lot of editing afterwards. 

Not to mention that not all presets work on all kinds of photos. As soon as you start doing your own research, you’ll soon find out that different ones are recommended for different accounts.

This is because each preset produces an effect that can dramatically change the mood, the vibe and the impact of your picture. Same presets that are recommended for travel pages won’t work for food blogs, same as beach pictures need different editing than the mountain ones.

Influencer’s Presets 

Many influencers are generating a passive income by selling their own presets. It’s easy to convince their followers to buy them with a promise that their pictures will look like the ones of the influencer (which they already love). Hence, presets serve as an extension of their own brand used across the whole Instagram platform.

Before you buy presets from your favourite influencer though, think about whether your content would work with their style. Many encourage others to use their custom hashtag for the photos edited with their presets.

Checking how the same presets work on other “ordinary” pictures created by other people is a great way of making sure these would work for you. Additionally, some influencers offer to give you a preview of your own picture when edited with a preset that you want to buy from them.

The Verdict

Times, when it was enough to run your picture through a “Valencia” Instagram filter and hit publish, are long gone. With so much competition to make your Instagram feed stand out, presets are a great way of achieving it without the need for a professional editing course.

Using presets will give your page a consistent look and is a way of taking your Instagram to the next level all with saving you time on editing and streamlining your workflow. With these results, paying for presets is not such a big investment.

A more crucial question, however, is buying the right presets that would suit your brand and feed. Before buying a preset pack from your favourite influencer look at how their presets work on pictures uploaded from other people.

Instagram Launches New Features: Co-Watching

Instagram Launches New Features: Co-Watching

Instagram has launched a new feature called Co-Watching. So what is it and how does it work?

To help people stay connected, Instagram has added a new feature to their popular app which allows you to browse your Insta feed together with your friends over video chat, all in the comfort of your own home!

Other features also include the ‘Stay Home’ sticker that you may have seen popping up in your friend’s stories, as well as a wider rollout of Instagram’s donation stickers.

Since the COVID-19 outbreak, several online businesses including Instagram have taken precautions to help keep people informed and supported through the difficult period. Co-Watching is apart of this endeavour to help keep us safe whilst still being able to engage with friends and family members.

Co-Watching has been tested since early 2019.
However, due to the current circumstances, Instagram chose to speed up the testing and release it for users.

‘“We decided to make it available soon so we could offer more ways for people to come together right now,”.

If you had invested in video conference stocks a few months ago you would be reaping the rewards with platforms like Zoom, Skype and Google Hangouts seeing massive growth due to more people being at home.

So how does we use it?

Simply head to your inbox in Instagram and on the top right-hand side there is a video icon. Click that and away you go!

You can take a screenshot of the chat with the button on the bottom left or you can browse through your liked, saved and suggested photos with your friends.

You can also add more friends to the chat so that you can have a big video chat and catch up on all of the latest goss!
