How To Add Text Above & Below Your Videos
You may have noticed videos online by popular channels such as Gary Vee and Rick Shiels, that include text above and below their videos. Also known as ‘letterbox videos’.
There is a reason these accounts put this text on their videos. It is no secret that these convert much higher than ordinary videos.
Why is this the case?
Many times when users are scrolling through their newsfeeds, audio on videos is silent.
As you have a minimal amount of time to grab their attention, a video isn’t going to drag them in.
That’s why adding text to your videos gives them a chance to see exactly what your video is about and why they should watch.
Limiting the text to nice and short sentences also helps. No one wants to sit there and read an essay or have a video covered in the text. Remember to keep it short and simple!
How do you do it?
There are a few different methods you can use to add text to your videos.
You can use video editor programs such as Adobe Premiere Pro. Although, not everyone has access to these kinds of expensive programs.
There are online tools that can do the job for you as well. Such as Typito, which is a similar tool to Canva except for video. It is also a much cheaper option as their starter packages are $29 per month.
You can always run a test and promote one of your posts with no text and black ‘letterbox borders’. Then run another test of a standard video and see which performs best.
This will give you a great sign of what works best for your target audience and what they engage with most.
