Why is TikTok growing?
‘App analytics site Sensor Tower reported Thursday that TikTok has been downloaded 1.5 billion times to date. The short-form video app continues to grow, with its downloads 6% stronger than this time last year. It is the third most-downloaded app outside of gaming this year.’
What has made TikTok so popular all of a sudden? The growth is quite substantial and more and more people are coming across from other platforms like Instagram and Youtube to create content for TikTok. Sometimes the content is funny, however some times it can be downright cringey! One thing is for sure is that it’s addictive and we are noticing more and more brand posts popping up on the platform.
Since it’s launch in 2016, TikTok has grown to over 500 million active users. This puts TikTok 9th in terms of social networks. The app is quite popular in China which has over 150 million active daily users.
In total, TikTok has 1.5 billion downloads on the App and Google Play stores. It has quickly become the most downloaded app on the App store.In saying this, 41% of Tik Tok users are between 16 and 24.
So how long will the rise of this app last? Will more adults start to use it or will it forever remain an app for kids? Hard to say! But one thing is for sure and that is that it’s one to definitely keep an eye on.
